CAS # 10026-13-8

Phosphorus pentachloride (PCl₅) is a key phosphorus chloride, alongside PCl₃ and POCl₃, and is primarily used as a chlorinating agent. It’s produced by chlorinating phosphorus trichloride.
In solid form, PCl₅ has a salt-like structure; in polar solvents like nitrobenzene, it partially dissociates, enhancing its reactivity.
