Phenyl isocyanate is an aromatic isocyanate with the chemical formula C₇H₅NO and a molar mass of 119.12 g/mol. It appears as a colorless to pale yellow liquid with a sharp, pungent odor and is primarily used as a building block in organic synthesis, especially for producing urethanes, carbamates, and heterocyclic compounds. The compound contains a highly reactive –N=C=O group attached to a phenyl ring, making it suitable for reactions with alcohols, amines, and active hydrogen compounds.  Phenyl Isocyanate is used in the synthesis of pharmaceuticals, agrochemicals, and specialty polymers.
