Doxofylline
CAS # 69975-86-6

Doxofylline is a methylxanthine derivative used as a bronchodilator in the treatment of asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), and other respiratory conditions involving bronchospasm. It relaxes airway smooth muscles, making breathing easier. Unlike theophylline, doxofylline does not significantly bind to adenosine receptors, which reduces central nervous system stimulation and cardiac side effects. Its bronchodilatory effect is primarily due to phosphodiesterase inhibition, leading to increased intracellular cAMP and smooth muscle relaxation.
