2-Ethyl Hexyl Chloroformate (2-EHCF)

EHCF stands for 2-Ethylhexyl Chloroformate (also abbreviated as 2-EHCF). It belongs to the chloroformate family, which represents highly reactive downstream derivatives of phosgene chemistry.

EHCF is a versatile organic synthesis intermediate utilized heavily by speciality chemical producers for two major functions - Polymerization Initiators, and Organic and Pharmaceutical Synthesis.

EHCF is clear, colorless to light-yellow liquid with a highly pungent, sharp odor. It is water-reactive. On contact with ambient atmospheric moisture or water, it slowly hydrolyzes to release hydrochloric acid (HCl) gas, carbon dioxide, and 2-ethylhexanol.
